Stories of My
Grandfather
Native American Flute played by
Albert
Running Wolf is of Kiowa blood. Albert started playing the
flute
over 10 years ago, when his first flute was gifted to him by an
extraordinary
flute-maker at a Powwow in Texas. "Stories of My
Grandfather" is dedicated
to his late Grandfather, Edward Chavez, who taught Albert about
the ways
of The People. "Stories of My Grandfather" is a unique mix
of both traditional
and contemporary Native American flute music. From beginning to end you
will
hear the stories as told by the flute; from the Aboriginal story of
Dream Time, to
Amazing Grace.
Running Wolf has been heard on WAIF radio's "Native Voices"
(*see excerpts of
album review below), as well as performed with the internationally
renowned
Wayquay. Additionally, he has also appeared at the Hiroshima
Flame Walk, the Run
For Freedom, the One Day of Peace run, and as a guest musician at
numerous Powwows
around the Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky area.
*Following are excerpts from the review of "Stories of My Grandfather"
by WAIF radio's Native Voices:
"Albert Running Wolf tells his story in his first CD "Stories of
My Grandfather"...........Albert's
Native American flute soothes and inspires........His stories are
heart-felt......Particularly poignant
is the title track dedicated to his late Grandfather......Look forward
to more releases.....as his career
as Native American musician expands"
